Choosing Perfect Wedding Dress Styles for Your Body Shape

Have you ever worn a dress that just didn’t flatter your shape? I’m sure that most of us have and it is frustrating when you can’t find the perfect dress.
Do you ever worry that you won’t look good in your wedding dress? This is one of the most important days of your life and you want to look drop dead gorgeous. So finding the perfect wedding dress is crucial, especially how it fits YOU!
Knowing and being aware of your body shape can help you pick the right style for your figure. There are different body shapes and certain styles that are flattering on those body types. Once you know your body shape you should look into the particular styles that suit you. Here are some examples:

1. Hourglass Body Shape
DO’s – If you have an hourglass body shape that means that you have curves. You have a smaller waist, like the middle of an hourglass, and your hips and shoulders come out, like the ends of an hourglass. You want a dress to hug your waist to show off your curves. Get a dress that is formfitting. You also have the option to go for a strapless or off the shoulder look.
DONT’s – Since you do have curves don’t hide any of it. It is important to know that your look will be more frumpy if you wear a dress that has a straight design. Straight designed dresses will make you look more boxy than anything. Also, avoid a lot of beading on your dresses because they tend to give a more heavier look.

2. Pear Body Shape
DO’s – Your body shape is bigger down in the hip area compared to the shoulder area. It has the effect of what a pear looks like. Your options are lead to wearing a boat-neck, small princess puffed sleeves, or long sleeves (for winter). All these styles will help balance your shoulders with your hips.
DONT’s – One thing you should avoid is having to wear puffy skirts or anything that will counter balance your smaller shoulders.

3. Petite Body Shape
DO’s – Size of height is one of the issues here but you can fix that with a pair of great heels. By wearing heel you will appear taller and now able to wear a dress with a longer skirt. Make sure they are comfortable as well as stylish, because you’ll be in them all night long. You will look great in a strapless or strapped wedding dress.
DONT’s – Same with the hourglass shape you have to be careful with the straight cut dress, it will stunt your height. The straight cut dress is more for taller people.

4. Square Body Shape
Do’s – Your main goal with a square body shape is to find a dress that can create the allusion of curves. It is a good idea to have fuller skirts and bigger sleeves. This will give the effect of you having more curves. Beading is good to have on the upper part of your body.
DONT’s – Since you must make the allusion of having curves it will be wise to stay away from form fitting or hips hugging dresses.
Hope you learned something about your body shape and are more ready to hunt for your perfect dress. Never settle for a dress that is O.K. Make sure that you get one that you want. It’s a good idea to start shopping well in advance before the wedding day because you never know how long it will take to find the one. Don’t feel bad to make a boutique lady help you try on dresses. They are there to help you and paid to do it. Don’t give up until you find a dress that looks good on YOU!
